The 1750Hz toneburst is still commonly used to access European repeaters.
Communications Specialists, Inc. markets a small encoder board specifically
for this purpose, just like the ones they sell for CTCSS applications. I have
one installed in a mobile rig, but it would fit nicely in most HT's. The cost
is about US$25-30, as I remember.
When I called them looking for mine, they knew just what I wanted. I can
find you the part number if you need it.

I have a Yaesu FT-5200 that has poor Tx audio. Checked the deviation
on both bands, and all is fine there. Also changed microphones with
the one on my FT-4700 with no change. The tx audio is muffled, with
poor frequency response. Anyone have experience with this problem, and
are there any official Yaesu mods or other fixes known?..Tks for help.

I have just purchased several Fujitsu 10 150mc vhf radios with an eye
to converting them to 2 meters, Question Has anyone ever worked on these
radios? They seem to be controlled by an eprom (I think) can it be
reprogramed? Anyone have a source for data on these units?

Anyone know where to find the out-of-band mods for the Kenwood TH-22AT.
I've checked the oak.oakland.edu ftp site and didn't see my model
Thanks in advance

Don't worry, if they remove CW from "all-mode" rigs you can still
copy it on sideband ;). Why anyone would WANT to is another story.
All-band rigs also are not. (thank GOD!) I say we bag the 13 & 20
WPM requirement for advanced & extra class. Morse, while enjoyed
by many and historically important, should not be "required" anymore
than ascii hex or ax.25 proto-call. More advanced theory would be
better than Morse, and might even "spark" some interest in the
service from an electronics point of view. I think it would be
cool to start a thread on this topic. Any takers ?

To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu
I recently purchased a Yaesu FT890AT. Out of the box the rig seems to
put out only approximately 85 watts CW. In addition, on a peak meter, it
only goes to 65 in a normal speaking voice, even with the mic gain turned
up quite high. The folks at Yaesu say I can adjust power out internally
and gave me the POT. Before I do this, has anyone else had this type of
problem? Thanks for your help.
